Last post (for a while)

This building was said to be the tallest building between London and New York. Its situated in the centre of Basingstoke and is occupied by Barclays Bank.

Woolpack Inn

One of my favorite pubs, well off the beaten track in Totford, has closed. This was a place that time forgot, served excellent beer, good food and no music!

Thorneycrofts

This overhead crane is all thats left of the former Thoneycofts factory in Basingstoke. The factory manufactured vehicles from buses to heavy lorries. It now sits at the entrance of the carpark to Morrisons superstore which is now built on the site.

Herriad Church

Herriad Church sits between Basingstoke and Alton along side the busy A339. It is a quiet oasis to sit and watch the world go round. Below is a picture of a benchmark carved by the Ordanance Survey when they surveyed the area. These were carved into what they considered to be immovable objects to be permanent markers of heights above sea level.

Yesterday was the 2008 bus rally in Alton. A large selection of preserved buses were on show in Anstey Park including this selection of London routemasters.


Various buses were out and about in the town including this Ex Aldershot bus seen at Alton Station.
